NOD Introduces Family Packages

We were surprised as any to find out that the 2009 theme for the well known Night of Decadence was Disney. So, we decided in order to raise funds, Wiess college opens up party to the public and offers vacation packages.

Classy vs. Trashy

Poster for a Will Rice public party.
Fun fact: This public dorm party is based on MY birthday party from sophomore year (October 2007). My friends and I planned an epic night in our section of the college and it went so well the dorm decided to base its first public party in 3 years off of our theme. YOU'RE WELCOME, WILL RICE.

Rob the Bounty Hunter

The Backpage explores what would happen if Robin Forman, the Dean of Undergraduates was like “Dog the Bounty Hunter,” the star of a VH1 television show. This was relevant because of the Caitlin Barnett shootings around campus. I created the two photo-realistic images, but the "amateur sketch" is a reference to an internet meme.

Swine Flu Kills Thousands

Breaking the news of Swine Flu at Rice, the Backpage discusses how Rice has
“sold-out” to subsidize the H1N1 vaccine by allowing clubs and organizations to
contribute. I created an infographic to demonstrate the different ingredients of the swine flu vaccine.

Houston in the Summertime

Earlier this year, my dad started commuting out to Conroe rather than downtown Houston so for Father's Day I painted the skyline of Houston for him to put up in his office and feel a little more at home.

This article and layout are the submission my partner and I made as part of our application to be the next year's Backpage editors. The editors at the time were thrilled, and asked us to print it in the next issue of the Thresher. Our first attempt at Rice-centric satire!
